The model CEM – DRUM/DRYER/MIXER – patented in 1983 – no. 19090A –manufactured by Bernardi Impianti International offers different solutions for production capacity (from 60 to 400 t/h) and for installation (on concrete bed or faster on steel beams).
Aim of this plant is to produce hot mix in a continuous process made in a single productive unit.
The drying of the aggregates is made in the drum with flow of smokes and aggregates with the same direction.
Compared to the other kinds of plants, the "Drum Mixer" are more simple and easier to control, offer a best product quality guarantee and represent the cheapest purchase and employ solution.
The advantages of "Drum Mixers", compared to traditional plants, are the extreme conceptual simplicity, the better thermic capacity and the small number of machines in the plant with less electrical consumption and maintenance interventions.
The hot mix produced by the drum mixer plants is of very high quality.
The CEM is a drum/dryer/mixer which differs from the other because it has three sections instead of two. Examining its length, from the part where the aggregates enter inside the drum there are three sections: the first one for the burner and the drying and heating section, the second one for the suction of smokes and the last one for the mixing.
The innovation, introduced in the project drum/dryer/mixer CEM, is the location of the suction area between the dryer and the mixer unit and the separation of the two zones with proper diaphragm. In this way there is no possibility of pollution due to the mixing of burner smokes and bituminous smokes.
To optimise the process, inside the CEM there are specific device bolted or welded (paddles), which lift the aggregates from the bottom and then leave it falling down from the top, creating a rain across hot gases.
